Chelsea look to soon be confirming their first transfer of the January window, at least their first big deal involving a first team player.

January is now 7 days old and it looks like Chelsea have been focusing on some loan moves and other departures.

Sky Germany have the very latest on one big deal – Ian Maatsen to Borussia Dortmund.

Their journalist Florian Plettenberg released his latest info on the deal late last night, and it looks like it is now very close to being fully confirmed.

As you can see by his post on X last night, Maatsen to Dortmund has had some positive developments and there is now a verbal agreement in place for a 6 month loan deal.

It is unclear whether there will be an option or an obligation to buy in the deal, but that is what we kept hearing that Chelsea wanted so you’d imagine there will be something in there.

Either way, this one looks very close now.
