Chelsea are haggling with Brighton over the method of payment for Moises Caicedo’s transfer today.

Chelsea and Brighton are spending today locked in talks as they seek to settle terms on the Ecuador midfielder’s fee.

Brighton want £80m to sell Caicedo – which is exactly what they rejected from Arsenal in January.

Chelsea regard the valuation as reasonable, though the structure of the deal remains to be agreed.

Brighton want the fee paid up front, or at least the majority. However, Chelsea wish to stagger the payments over the next four years.
