REVEALED: Despite being ‘fully fit’ Here is Why Mason Mount was NOT in the squad to face Leicester City

REVEALED: Despite being ‘fully fit’ Here is Why Mason Mount was NOT in the squad to face Leicester City.

Graham Potter have revealed the reason why he is not having Mason Mount play against Leicester City despite being fully fit. The question all Chelsea fans are asking now answered.

According to reports, the 24-year-old is ‘fully fit’ and could have played a part against the Foxes if he was included in the matchday squad.

But he is being left out of the Chelsea side at the moment due to his contract dispute going on at Stamford Bridge, per Fabrizio Romano.

The England international has been the subject of intense transfer speculation, having yet to agree a new Chelsea contract.

The academy product and the board remain in a stand-off over contract demands.

Mount’s current deal is due to expire in the summer of 2024, with Manchester United, Newcastle United and Liverpool believed to be keeping tabs on him ahead of making an approach.

Speaking ahead of his side’s game against Leicester, Potter described the contract talks between Mount and the club as ‘complicated’.

He said: “I’ve spoken to him several times about his situation, football, and life generally.

“My feelings for Mason are clear. He’s a fantastic person firstly, but sometimes these things happen.

“They’re complicated, and it’s best I speak little about it, let them get on with it in deciding what is right for both parties.”

Asked if Mount is part of his plans for next season, Potter replied: “Yes.”

He added: “But I’m not naive, and I know it’s an important time for him and an important contract.

“These things have to be right for him, and his family, and it’s important he makes a decision on that basis.”

Will Mount still be a Chelsea player next season? Watch this space.
