JUST IN: Graham Potter’s first choice in Chelsea midfield and heck it is Rueben Loftus-Cheek.
Loftus-Cheeks has been brilliant in the past few matches and Graham Potter have just found his new first choice as Kante is still out due to injury
The midfielder played a similar role for Thomas Tuchel last season, and while Potter has tried out other options, he now seems locked in on Ruben, who has filled in twice for James in recent games.
The fact that Malo Gusto doesn’t arrive until the summer to perform the same role means Loftus-Cheek has a free run at the minutes, and he’s doing a solid job in there. He’s not defensively polished, but he does a great job when the team are on the front foot.
James is clearly going to be treated carefully, and not used for 3 games in a row until he’s proved his body can take it. That should give RLC plenty more time to shine, and show clubs who may try to buy him this summer that he’s still a class act – and versatile too.
