“I want to stay here” – Chelsea player who impressed in USA this week makes feelings clear and here is what he said
Chelsea played in the USA this week as they began their tour of pre-season friendlies over there.
It was a very makeshift starting Xl that Mauricio Pochettino picked, mainly full of very young players with an average age of just 19.
But they more than did the job well winning the game 5-0, even though the opposition were not the greatest.
But it was encouraging for Pochettino and for Chelsea fans, and there was a few players that really stood out.
One of those was left back Ian Maatsen, who was also being asked to play out of position as a left winger. He not only did well there, he also scored two very good goals and got awarded man of the match come the end of the game.
His future is in question due to having Marc Cucurella and Ben Chilwell ahead of him in the squad, but he’s made it clear what he wants to do.
As reported by Absolute Chelsea, Maatsen said: “I try to do my best. It’s all I can do. Of course I want to stay. If I prove that every day in training and work hard in the matches, they’ll decide. Hopefully I can stay here!”
