Cucurella seems to make a match losing mistake every time he plays, and this week was no different. It was certainly a super strike from Matheus Nunes, but Cucurella just made it so easy for him by being out of position as the ball came across the field.

He seems to have no defensive instincts, and while he’s theoretically better in attack, he’s so totally devoid of confidence that he doesn’t do anything when he gets the ball in attacking areas.

As some have said on Twitter, we’ve got Ian Maatsen on loan at Burnley tearing up the Championship who would have been a far better option. It’s just more of the same bad self-scouting we’ve seen for years.
