Former Chelsea player who did not see playtime with the Blues; Kevin DeBruyne Mocks Chelsea says leaving Chelsea was the best decision of his career after beating them in EPL.
Bound again in the FA Cup tomorrow, DeBruyne has opened up about how he feels for leaving Chelsea years ago as they did not manage to see his importance for the club.
The Belgian was with Chelsea from 2012 to 2014, went on-loan to Genk and Werder Bremen, after which he moved to VfL Wolfsburg. Since 2015, De Bruyne has been with City.
“I decided to leave Chelsea, as I felt that I had no chance. I did not see the opportunities for playing time in this club,” he said.
“Leaving Chelsea was the best solution for me. I needed to start from scratch in another team to get better. Then everything went fast. Even during the heavy moments in Chelsea I did not doubt my abilities.
“But I could not imagine that I would play for Manchester City and perform at the World Cup.”
