Chelsea will make Champions League finals if they do not meet any of these teams; Pundits predicts.
With what we are looking at now, the UCL last places could be a very lethal place to be in and by chance will certain teams get there.
Just look at Paul Merson. Last we wrote about him he was doubting whether Graham Potter would last the season. Now, he seem convinced we can win the Champions League – if we avoid two of the tougher teams.
“If the Champions League quarter-final draw goes their way, bar Man City and Bayern Munich, I don’t think too many teams will want to play Chelsea. If they don’t meet those two then I think they’ll get through to the semi-finals,” the former Arsenal defender said in quotes picked up by The Metro.
Given the ridiculous depth of quality we have in our squad now, and given we have less to play for in the league than many of the teams we could face, we certainly see where he’s coming from.
On the other hand, let’s pump the breaks a little and remember we were dreadful as recently as just a couple of weeks ago, and couldn’t beat Southampton, let alone a top Champions League team over two legs.
