He wants to defend himself and his team, but he doesn’t want to make excuses or pass the buck.
Today was a great example. He said that “performances haven’t been as bad as results,” but then immediately conceded that it’s a results game, and that all the good performances in the world are useless unless there’s a win at the end of them.
His point was that the players have looked great in training – unfortunately, that counts for nothing.
