For such an experienced defender, the former Napoli captain should have been able to avoid such a costly mistake in the final minutes of the game.
It is unfair to say that he was solely to blame, however, since goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga could have done better, too, and Chelsea as a team had plenty of chances to be ahead by more than one goal at that point.
