Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino says he’ll keep playing Reece James, irrespective of form.
James is returning from a long-term hamstring injury and has struggled when played.
“We are competing and want to win but what’s best for Reece is time and to give him game time,” said Pochettino on Friday. “If not, it is difficult for him to be fit.”
Pochettino also discussed James’ captaincy.
“He is doing really well, I am really pleased with him. He is helping the club, his teammates and he is helping in every single decision that he is involved in.
“He is always positive and trying to give his best. But you need to remember for any captain, who is not playing because he is not fit or another problem, it is difficult to feel involved. But he is doing a fantastic job and I am so happy with him.”
