Breaking: Mikel Obi insults Chelsea again says “I’m looking at the season after that” but for now they can’t win anything.

Chelsea might not look like the team to win anything this season but this should not be thrown at their face as they are going through some rigorous chages in their squad now.

Job Obi Mikel was one of the guests on the CaughtOffside Debrief podcast this week, and he was really good value, talking about the seasons past and the season to come.

He’s excited about the arrival of Mauricio Pochettino, but he’s not tripping over himself. Despite all the positivity around, he doesn’t think we will make the top 4 in a year’s time.

“I don’t think we will get back into the Champions League next season, but I’m looking at the season after that,” the former Blue said, rather convincingly.

That would represent good progress, without doubt. This year we gel as a team, improve as the year goes on, and finish in the Europa League. Next season we get even better and crack the top 4. Nobody would complain about that, and Pochettino would get a pat on the back.

But after years of competing in the competition every season, and after winning it so recently, no fan can deny that our true objective is to get back into the top 4 this season. If we miss out, so be it, but it remains our aim.

We’re sure our new coach is telling our players every day in training.
