Man Utd or Chelsea? Osimhen reveals his Premier League allegiance

Napoli forward Victor Osimhen has admitted he had a Chelsea and a Manchester United kit when he was younger as a Premier League move continues to be touted.

The Nigeria international is one of the most sought-after talents in world football and a transfer away from Napoli is seen as a possibility next year.

Chelsea and Arsenal have both been heavily linked with a move for Osimhen, although the former appear to be slightly ahead in the race to sign him.

Todd Boehly has spent over €1 billion since he became the Blues’ owner in 2022, but a reliable goal-scorer remains an issue, despite the fact Nicolas Jackson has four goals in his past two games.

The former Villarreal star still looks a raw prospect and adding Osimhen has been mooted as the transfer that will take Chelsea to the next level.

Now, the Napoli man has fuelled rumours of a Stamford Bridge switch by admitting that he owned a Chelsea kit as a kid.

Osimhen appeared as a guest on Chelsea legend John Obi Mikel’s podcast – The Obi One Podcast – and revealed: “I don’t have a team in the Premier League. But I had two jerseys [as a kid] I took from my brother… I had a Chelsea one and a Manchester United one.

“A lot of my friends are Chelsea fans, and a few are Man Utd fans,” he added.

Osimhen ‘tempted’ by Saudi Arabia offer

Furthermore, Osimhen also admitted that despite his desire to stay at Napoli, he was swayed slightly following a lucrative offer from the Saudi Pro League.

“I never thought of [leaving in summer] at first. But when this huge offer came from a Saudi club [Al-Hilal] it was tempting,” he admitted to Obi Mikel.

“It was a big one… I had three meetings & made up my mind to stick with the team [Napoli].

“In August it was a huge decision for me to make. The more I said no to these people the more they increased their offer. It was literally like ‘wow’… they never gave up until the end of their transfer window.”

Osimhen, 24, has scored six goals in eight Serie A matches this season, but he is yet to notch his first Champions League goal of the campaign. He is currently sidelined through a hamstring injury, however, and has missed Napoli’s past six games.
