Todd Boehly might want to listen; Cristiano Ronaldo makes his opinion about the next Chelsea managerial target; What he said.
It is now getting more real than it has ever gotten before and now it seems like this is the moment Chelsea owner Todd Boehly might want to listen to Cristiano Ronaldo.
Cristiano Ronaldo supposedly made his feelings clear on one of Chelsea’s top managerial targets, Luis Enrique, during his time at Manchester United. Blues co-owner Todd Boehly may wish to listen to the Portuguese’s advice if he is to stand a chance of luring him to Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea were rumoured to be weighing up a swoop for Ronaldo last summer, but former boss Thomas Tuchel supposedly vetoed the deal as the Blues swooped for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang instead.
Enrique is among the front-runners to take over in west London after leaving his role as Spain boss following their disappointing World Cup exit. The 52-year-old also has experience with Roma and Celta Vigo, although he found most success at the Nou Camp, where he won the Champions League in 2014/15.
“It’s been really difficult, at every single level, especially emotionally,” he told reporters. “You have to do the press conference, you have to deal with the players – it’s hard.
“My relationship with Graham and [assistant coach] Billy [Reid], and how it affects families – it’s difficult to deal with that. It’s a sad day for the staff because Graham and Billy are two top coaches and top human beings. I have to be as professional as I can and try to help and guide the players. I’m just focusing on what I can control and going day by day.”
