Edouard Mendy is currently ‘not looking’ to sign contract extension at Chelsea and here is why.

Does this confirm the notion that Mendy is looking to leave Chelsea at some point? Well, we would not know that for sure now do we?

But one thing is sure here, Eduardo Mendy is not currently looking to sign a new contract at Chelsea and although he is still serving his injury break, Kepa has been a very good replacement for him and we do wonder if he will still get any playing time when he finally rejoins the team

The Senegal international’s deal under Graham Potter isn’t set to expire until 2025 but his future has become uncertain after it was claimed by an inside source that he doesn’t feel respected enough.

The Blues shot-stopper could therefore reportedly push to leave in the summer should he not be able to regain his number one spot from Kepa Arrizabalaga upon his return from injury.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Phillips delivered a significant update on Mendy’s future by suggesting that he doesn’t see him committing himself to fresh terms at Chelsea:

“Mendy is another one that doesn’t look good at the moment.

“He’s not looking to sign a new contract extension with Chelsea as of now, there’s been no talks of late. Chelsea have also been pondering replacements for him so he could go.”

Mendy already appears to be considering his options elsewhere and Chelsea seem to be identifying successors, so it will be difficult for both parties to reach an agreement, but it’s more than worth a go considering what he can bring to the table.
